In geometry, the convex hull is the smallest (convex) shape enclosing a set of points. When applied to a chart, such as a scatter plot or a network, it makes it easier to identify which marks belong to the same category, and how they are spatially distributed.
If we create a scatter plot, binding a quantitative variable to one axis and another quantitative variable to the other axis, to achieve a convex hull chart we only have to bind a categorical variable to color, and among the 'Distribution plot' options select the 'convex hull' option.
